When your gown arrives, it is assigned a unique reference number and we begin a thorough documentation process. We photograph the gown, note its fabric composition, construction details, embellishments, and any visible or suspected staining.
We look at every area of the gown systematically: hemline and train (typically the most soiled area from ground contact), the bodice (perspiration and makeup staining), neckline and décolletage, sleeves, and the body of the skirt. We also assess invisible risk areas — anywhere food, beverages, or perfume may have contacted the fabric without leaving immediately visible trace.
Each stain is treated individually before cleaning begins. The type of stain determines the treatment: proteins (food, perspiration) require enzyme-based pre-treatment. Tannins (wine, tea, coffee) require different chemistry. Oils and lipids (makeup, grease) require yet another approach.
Most critically, we treat for invisible oxidation stains — the clear residues from champagne, white wine, sugary drinks, and fruit juices that appear colorless but contain sugars that will caramelize and yellow over time if left untreated. This is the most important pre-treatment step in bridal care, and the one most often missed.
Cleaning method is selected based on the gown's fabric composition and construction. Structured bodices with boning or inner construction are treated differently from flowing silk skirts. Beaded and embellished areas are hand-cleaned individually to protect the embellishments.
We never use a one-size-fits-all approach. A couture gown with French lace panels and hand-sewn crystals receives completely different handling from a simple chiffon A-line. Our team assesses each component of the gown and cleans accordingly.
After cleaning, the gown is hand-pressed throughout — bodice, skirt, sleeves, and train — and given a complete re-inspection. Every stain area is examined again. If any residual staining remains, we re-treat and re-clean before proceeding. We do not sign off on a gown until the result meets our standards.
Any loose beading, embellishments, or thread pulls identified during the process are addressed at this stage. The gown is finished to the highest possible standard before packaging.
Your clean, finished gown is wrapped in acid-free tissue paper throughout — between all fabric layers, under straps, inside sleeves — to prevent acid migration and fabric contact damage. The wrapped gown is placed into an oxygen-free sealed environment within an archival-grade acid-free preservation box.
The preservation box includes a sealed inspection window so you can view your gown at any time without opening the preservation seal. We label the box clearly with your name, the date of preservation, and care instructions for long-term storage.
