Cleaning removes existing stains and soiling. Preservation is the archival packaging process that creates a long-term protective environment for your clean gown. Both are necessary — a preserved but uncleaned gown will still deteriorate from trapped stains. We always clean before preserving.

If you do open the box, the preservation environment is broken, and the gown will begin aging in normal air conditions.
